Global responsibility

Saturday 13 May 2023 World Fair Trade Day and World Migratory Bird Day. Global responsibility.

Life is best when the sky is the roof.
Put on the Fair Trade hat and enjoy nature!
See the migratory birds that come, for example the beautiful barn swallows that come from Africa.
The Fair Trade hat in the photo is handmade from artisans' local natural plant fibres: sun-dried, nature white raffia palm leaves that have been braided. The hat is part of La Maison Afrique FAIR TRADE range. Click here for more information.

Saturday 13 May 2023 is both World Migratory Bird Day and World Fair Trade Day.
A nice combo that reminds of shared responsibility for the small round planet we live on.

World Fair Trade Day
World Fair Trade Day is a global event celebrated on the 2nd Saturday in May.
To inform and raise awareness is important for the Fair Trade movement: The products should be delivered with a message. The shops have here an important task. The first Fair Trade shops emerged in the 1950's. In 1984, the first conference for European World Shops where organized. In 1994 the Network of European World Shops (NEWS) was created. In 2009 NEWS was dissolved, its tasks became integrated in WFTO-Europe. World Fair Trade Day was initiated by NEWS in 1996 as "European World Shops Day". World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) is now the main organizer of the event.
