12 May World Fair Trade Day WFTDay is celebrated in over 70 countries, every year the 2.nd Saturday in May. WFTDay 2012 statement WFTO coordinates and produces graphics, articles etc. As a Europe World Fair Trade Day 2012 special, Sylvie Plan (WFTO) has written the article "Fiber of Life, from Madagascar to Sweden" More about to the right.
1-17 March Cooperation meetings with artisans on Madagascar. Discussions marked by the very difficult situation in the country; 3 years of political uncertainty, poverty level increased to 77% of the households (according to the World Bank, the highest in Africa). In addition, the cyclone "Giovanna" in February 2012, and the cyclone "Irene" early March. It is a situation that makes Fair Trade more difficult--but even more important.
20 February La Maison Afrique FAIR TRADE is, after reporting December 2011, certified Fair Trade Organisation for the period 2012-2014. The World Fair Trade Organization has issued the certificate and approved the reporting. La Maison Afrique FAIR TRADE has been reporting and certified since the system was introduced by IFAT 2003. 2-5 February Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, CIFF

26 January Ship-in-harbour Container from Madagascar, loaded with hats, bags, baskets, flower decorated cards and model cars of recycled metal safely arrived. Shipping by sea is slow & insecure - but our choice as it is the best for the environment.
19-22 January Formex, Stockholm International Fairs

2 October Lectur" Fair Trade and Green from Madagascar" Vänermuseet in Lidköping arranges a theme day about Fair Trade and ecology.
1-4 September Formex, Stockholm International Fairs
La Maison Afrique FAIR TRADE stand B17:20 presented our broad craft assortment; hats, bags, baskets, interior, paper- and gift articles. The autumn fair trend theme was "Cosy minimalism". Products from La Maison Afrique FAIR TRADE were selected to Formex Theme exhibition as well as Formex Inspirational exhibition. 10 June Ship-in-harbour New shipment arrived from Madagascar. This time, without delay--and with lots of new models of hats, bags and baskets. Product development resulting from cooperation meetings on Madagascar early spring.
